Spitzen Leichtathletik Luzern on Tuesday, July 9, offers the audience absolute top class not only in the men's javelin, but also in the women's javelin. Olympic champion Sara Kolak (24, Croatia, best distance 68.43m) will meet European champion Christine Hussong (25, Germany, best distance 67.90m).

In addition to the two top athletes, eight-time U.S. champion Kara Winger, 33, best distance 66.67m), current Commonwealth champion Kathryn Mitchell (37, Australia, best distance 68.92 and Lithuania's Lina Muze (27, best distance 64.87m) complete the top field. Hussong wants to realize her third consecutive victory at Spitzen Leichtathletik Luzern and Mitchell wants to repeat her success of 2016 in Lucerne. Olympic champion Sara Kolak will be competing for the first time. The women's javelin throw will start before 7 p.m. due to the tight schedule.

Not in this illustrious field will be the Swiss record holder Géraldine Ruckstuhl. She will be going for medals in a week at the U23 European Championships in the all-around.
