On Tuesday, the 1500 Club of Spitzen Leichtathletik Luzern presented its 2nd Young Talent Award to Ayana Brunner, a sprinter with Leichtathletik club Luzern and a participant in the European Athletics U18 Championships.

On Tuesday evening, Daniel Cottini, President of the 1500 Supporters' Club of Spitzen Leichtathletik Luzern, presented the 16-year-old with the prize money of CHF 1,500 at the Hotel Waldstätterhof in Lucerne. The award was established in 2025 and is presented to young track and field athletes from Central Switzerland who have distinguished themselves through outstanding performances during the previous season. Alongside international stars, Spitzen Leichtathletik Luzern provides young athletes with a platform every year to gain valuable competition experience in front of a large audience.
Three-time Swiss U18 Champion
Last summer, Ayana Brunner narrowly missed out on a place in the 100m final at the European Athletics U18 Championships, finishing just one hundredth of a second short with a time of 11.67 seconds.
At the Swiss U18 Championships, the athlete representing LC Luzern achieved a remarkable triple of gold medals. She claimed the national titles in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay alongside her LC Luzern teammates, setting a new Swiss record in the relay. Brunner was delighted to receive the award. “I am absolutely thrilled with this recognition. It gives me even more motivation to work on improving my form over the coming months.” Karl Vogler, President of Spitzen Leichtathletik Luzern, has promised her a spot in the supporting program at the next edition of the meeting.
Next Event Date Announced
The president of the international athletics meeting also announced the date of the next event on Tuesday. The anniversary edition of Spitzen Leichtathletik Luzern will take place on 30 June 2027, just over two weeks earlier than usual. “The 40th edition has to be held earlier due to the upcoming renovation of the athletics facilities in 2027,” explained Karl Vogler.
Advanced ticket sales will begin in spring. The stadium renovation, which is expected to last just over a year, will start immediately after the event. The 41st edition is scheduled to take place in late August 2028.
