FREDY MOLLET PASSED AWAY

Spitzen Leichtathletik Luzern and the entire Swiss athletics scene sadden Fredy Mollet. The athletics official, who lived in Emmenbrücke, passed away on 23 December after a long illness, three days before his 78th birthday.

Mollet already belonged to the hard core of the organizing committee of Spitzen Leichtathletik Luzern 33 years ago. He was responsible for the competition office in an honorary capacity until his death. Following his career as a sprinter with TV Emmenstrand, Mollet remained loyal to athletics as the head of the TK of the Central Switzerland Athletics Association, of which he was one of the founders, referee expert and in various other batches with the Swiss Athletics Association. He was in charge of the licensing authority for all Swiss athletics events, supervised the Swiss list of best athletes for many years and also ran referee training courses. Mollet was not wrongly called a "walking encyclopaedia of athletics".

His extraordinary commitment has been honoured with honorary membership in various associations and clubs, and in 2016 he received the award of "Volunteer of the Year" from the IG Sport union of the Canton of Lucerne.
